Keynote speaker: Louis L. Reed
JHA was thrilled to host Louis L. Reed, who serves as FFJC’s National Advocacy and Campaigns Director. As one of the country’s leading figures in the field of social impact, Louis brings years of experience and expertise in government, criminal justice reform, policy advocacy, public health, and personal impact. Having spent nearly 14 years in federal prison and several years on supervision, his leadership led to the passage of more than 30 state and federal level bills, including the historic First Step Act in 2018. Louis’s public policy outcomes have created a pathway to freedom for 650,000+ people affected by the criminal justice system.
Spoken Word artist: Johnny Page
We were also thrilled to have Johnny Page performing an original spoken word piece at this year’s event. Johnny is the Executive Director at ConTextos. He is a formerly incarcerated professional, speaker, author, anti-violence educator, and advocate. He’s committed to fighting for the right of access to higher education for the incarcerated and creating pathways for the formerly incarcerated on traditional campuses. Johnny is the Co-Founder of C.A.V.E. (Community Anti-Violence Education) an intergenerational community-based support system for those who are affected by trauma.
