History: Opened October 1984, Jacksonville is the parent facility of the Greene County Work Camp and the Pittsfield Work Camp. Jacksonville is a facility for adult men. In 2022 IDOC updated Jacksonville’s mission to focus on reentry, with the aim to limit transfers to the prison to those within five years of release from central Illinois.
