History: North Lawndale Adult Transitional Center (ATC) opened in 2000, and is located on the west side of Chicago. It is a minimum-security male facility, and one of four ATCs or work release programs remaining within the Illinois Department of Corrections. In the ATC program, eligible incarcerated individuals establish and maintain employment and are eligible for community correctional center leaves and independent release time. North Lawndale is operated contractually by the non-profit Safer Foundation.
